Sunrise, Little Tybee Island & The Sugar Shack

4/3/18

We started Tuesday morning out with a drive to the south end of Tybee Island to watch the sunrise.  It was a gorgeous sunrise and we had the beach all to ourselves!  We rented double sea kayaks to go over to Little Tybee Island.  This island is deserted with no one on it unless they've kayaked or taken a boat over.  Our trip out to Little Tybee was quite the adventure.  We were going against the current and the wind so it took us about 45 minutes of constant paddling to make it over.  We had a couple big waves hit us, one spinning Blake and I around and another one completely covering Erik and Owen. Luckily we all stayed afloat! Once we arrived the island was beautiful to explore.  We kayaked a little portion of the marsh around Little Tybee before heading back.  Our trip back was much less eventful since we were going with the current and the wind was to our backs. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, eating ice cream at the sugar shack, and doing some shopping at the gift shop.

We made it!

Noah found a sand dollar!

Blake and Claire found a ton of shells

You can see Tybee Island behind us.. that is where we kayaked from!

They all thought they were funny burying their hands and feet in the sand

This shark was outside a gift shop on Tybee... the kids took one nice photo before deciding to try and act like they were being eaten by the shark.
